What happens after your child’s Pediatric ER On Demand visit?
There could be multiple outcomes after your child’s telehealth visit with the board-certified emergency medicine physician:
Medication prescription
Your telehealth physician can write a prescription for medication and have it sent to your pharmacy of choice. This does not include prescriptions for pain medication or psychiatric medication.
Lab test or imaging study (for children ages 5 to 17)
If the physician recommends a lab test or imaging study immediately, they will recommend that you go directly to an emergency department. If the testing is not time-sensitive, then your child’s telehealth physician will recommend you make an appointment with your child’s pediatrician.
Emergency department visit
If your child’s condition warrants a visit to an emergency department, their telehealth physician can help you call a Northwell ambulance for transportation. You can also drive to an emergency department if your child’s condition allows. Your child’s telehealth physician will call ahead if you choose to seek care at a Northwell emergency department.
