Pediatric neuroradiology
Who we are
Cohen Children’s pediatric neuroradiologists specialize in the imaging and diagnosis of conditions of the brain and central nervous system in fetuses, infants, children and adolescents. We also care for older patients who have survived a congenital or childhood condition of the nervous system. Our radiologists are subspecialists who are fellowship-trained in pediatric neuroradiology. Subspecialization allows physicians to acquire a deeper knowledge of their area of focus, thereby increasing the accuracy of study interpretation, reducing the need for repeat studies and promoting improved outcomes.
Our highly trained and caring technologists ensure that every image is of the highest quality, while helping our young patients and their families feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the exam. Our dedicated and compassionate team is always available to answer your questions.
Our approach
We use state-of-the-art technology to provide highly precise, accurate images, while limiting or avoiding radiation exposure in our young patients. To ensure we're implementing the safest, most up-to-date protocols, we're a member of the Image Gently Alliance, founded by the Society for Pediatric Radiology and the American College of Radiology.
When possible, we use technologies that do not require ionizing radiation, including pediatric ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Our fetal MRI service is designed as a problem-solving tool when an obstetric ultrasound is abnormal. When radiation is necessary—as with radiography, fluoroscopy and computed tomography (CT)—we always use the lowest possible dose.
Our pediatric neuroradiologists are fully integrated into the wide range of medical and surgical care provided throughout Cohen Children’s Medical Center. We work closely with other pediatric specialists in areas such as neurosurgery, neurology, neonatology, oncology, infectious disease, otolayngology, endocrinology, orthopedics, rheumatology and obstetrics. Our multidisciplinary team consults and collaborates on an ongoing basis to help develop and manage the most effective treatment plan for your child.
