At Cohen Children's, we make active and robust quality improvement efforts with our in-house committees and protocols. We also participate in several multi-institutional efforts, including the NPC-QIC study aimed at reducing mortality in single ventricle infants as they progress through staged surgical repair or palliation.
We're also conducting a clinical investigation in the use of new valve repair and replacement techniques, which includes participation in several multi-institutional registries. Our current clinical focus includes one further improvement in fast-tracking with reduced time of mechanical ventilation (most patients are extubated on the operating room table at the time of surgery) and reduced use of blood and blood products.
We're proud to participate in various clinical trials, so that our physicians are able to provide patients with medical treatments of the future—today.
