About us

Adolescent medicine is a specialized area of pediatric health care that addresses the wide-ranging physical and emotional issues of adolescents as they move through the challenging stages of their preteen, teenage and young adult years of development. These dramatic changes create a special need for pediatric healthcare physicians with specific adolescent medicine training, as well as adolescent-focused health research. Adolescent medicine specialists are trained to deal with varied areas, such as developing sexuality, dermatology, sports medicine, psychology, gynecology, orthopaedic issues, psychosocial issues, substance abuse and nutritional disorders.

Through the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Cohen Children’s, we offer general care for adolescents and young adults, from ages 12 to 21 for:

The Eating Disorders Program at Cohen Children’s has been designated as a New York State Comprehensive Center for Eating Disorders. It is the only eating disorder program with inpatient, outpatient and day programs for adolescents in the New York metropolitan area.
